Three Low-Risk Ways to Start Using AI in Your Business

There are easy, low-risk wins available from AI right now. There are also caveats worth knowing before you take them. Here are both.

The wins

  1. Quick questions and deep research. Use Perplexity for quick questions and Gemini for deep research.
  2. Marketing collateral. ChatGPT and Gemini are both good at this.
  3. Fill the gaps in your own processes. Identify internal inefficiencies – manual transcription, export and re-import between systems, reporting that somebody rebuilds by hand every month – and have your IT people use a coding assistant to write a small application that closes the gap.

The third one is the interesting one, because it is the only one that changes how the business runs rather than how fast someone types.

The rules that keep them low-risk

  • Use only the public websites of these services – not local apps, not plugins.
  • Never upload or paste anything you would not be willing to share with the world.
  • Always check the sources behind any answer or piece of research.

Can you do more than this?

Of course. A great deal more.

The catch is that doing a great deal more also requires a great deal more planning and risk mitigation. The three items above are on this list precisely because they do not – they are the things you can start on Monday without a project behind them.
